Sabarkantha

The then Rajawadas of western Indian Union, other private properties as well as Prantij taluka, Modasa Mahal, Ambaliyara, Mohanpur, Malpur, Bayad and the other Rajawadas of Sadara region got together and Sabarkantha district came into existence in August – 1949 and with the foundation of Gujarat state in May – 1960 Sabarkantha district has become a part of the state. Before that this district was part of Mahikantha agency and was known by this name. Due to the movement of social workers it was named as Sabarkantha in place of Mahikantha.
